Bank lending standards

watch · 1.70% · Credit · weight 2 · DRTSCILM

Net % of banks tightening C&I loan standards (SLOOS).

The Fed's Senior Loan Officer survey asks banks directly whether they are tightening standards on commercial and industrial loans. Bankers restrict credit before borrowers visibly weaken — making SLOOS one of the few surveys that genuinely leads, although it publishes only quarterly.
